about

All The Best Notes Vol. 2: 2004 features some choice cuts from Savage Henry's second year of playing. This was the year that SH would win First Place in the local Battle of the Bands and travel away from home for the first time to play shows in Port Townsend, WA (9/11 and 11/20). In addition to some fun and memorable moments from various live shows, this compilation also includes many great tracks, both from the stage and the practice studio, that showcase the band starting to dig deeper into improvisation. Beware of some low quality recordings!

Track 3 is a cover of the bass solo version by Victor Wooten.
Track 4 is an Ozzy Osbourne cover.
Track 5 features Alex on Alto Saxophone Solo.
Tracks 6 & 7 the band went by Amazing Larry at this show due to Trent Martinez playing guitar while Todd was away. Chris was also absent for this show. The majority of the set was ice cream flavor inspired improvisation.
Track 7 includes teases of “Love You To” by The Beatles and “Vigilante Justice”.
Track 10 is David Bowie cover.
Track 11 includes teases of what was to become Stay Frosty, and was
recorded by Steve Watson using two unknown room mics that resulted in phasing.
Track 12 includes a tease of "Moby Dick" by Led Zeppelin.
Track 13 includes a tease of "China Cat Sunflower" by the Grateful Dead.
Track 14 includes a tease of what would become the solo section to "Plankton, Sea Greens, and Proteins from the Sea".
Track 17 includes a tease of "Slap, Crackle, Pop".
Track 18 includes a tease of what would become the solo section to "Plankton, Sea Greens, and Proteins from the Sea".
Track 21 was a skit were Alex was miraculously cured of a bull-related neck injury by the Reverend Brian Knight.
Track 22 is untitled tune written by Jordan Watson, Eli Watson, Chris Stainback, and Todd Smith from a practice in the summer of 2004.
Track 26 includes a tease of "Mountain Jam" by the Allmann Brothers Band.
Track 27 is a medley of two songs by Frank Zappa.

about

Savage Henry Bellingham, Washington

Savage Henry came together by fate in the summer of 2003. We espouse originality in our compositions which encompass progressive rock, jazz, and portions of various sporadic and disparate elements within the far reaches of the endless musical spectrum. We also incorporate extended collective improvisation within our compositions and take off into completely different directions at every show. ... more
